The Phoebe English studio shares the circular design knowledge, gathered from the making of each collection, through a variety of activities including talks, workshops and outreach.
We offer a sustainable design consultancy focusing on circular design. We work in education across a wide spectrum of universities as well as hosting public facing fashion workshops. We also attend various sustainable design- and circularity-focused appearances.
Working as a design consultant with workshops for design teams of larger brands, detailing our approach and transition to circular design, to a variety of different circular fashion based educational workshops, both in person and online.
We would like our knowledge to travel beyond the studio alone.
CIRCULAR DESIGN CONSULTANCY
We offer a design consultancy for brands and design teams looking to integrate circular design approaches into their current business models. We can help build in solution based design thinking into traditional, general fashion design practice.
We have run workshops and consultancy for a variety of brands: from high street companies to heritage makers, sharing our knowledge about sustainable circular design approaches.
We explore how a circular design approach can be applied to different business models and scenarios. We are able to host consultancy for corporate settings here at our studio in South East London, either as online workshops or by visiting various locations.
Through our sustainable fashion consultancy, we can advise on circular business models and take your company through various problem solving exercises. We can demonstrate how collaboration across teams can lead to practical and achievable circular design solutions.
We endeavour to bring us all closer to a circular economy.
EDUCATION | SUSTAINABILITY FASHION TEACHING
Sharing our knowledge is key to what we do and we have taught in various educational settings for many years.
Our work with fashion education and universities includes guest lectures on our work at the studio, tutoring during design projects, crits and final lineups. We have written and advised on sustainability project briefs as well as developing sustainability syllabuses for new courses with educational boards.
By setting up live projects in collaboration with educational institutions, we can aid the next generation of design talent to have the sustainable basis it needs, looking at where fashion designers could be in the future.
We also regularly host open studio events. By using the studio as an educational tool in itself, we provide studio tours and open studio events. Hoping to engage with the public and young people in sustainable educational talks and collaborative fashion workshops, we focus on our sustainable design process, using recycled materials and promote the potential of a more circular economy. Public facing workshops are part of this, such as quilting with waste, a workshop focusing on quilting with leftover or surplus materials, for the V&A and Fashion Revolution.
APPEARANCES AND PARTNERS
Phoebe also regularly appears in many contexts: on committees to discuss and share the studio’s approach to circular design as well as judging panels for fashion competitions.
Recent appearances, educational partnerships and workshop clients include: V&A, Central Saint Martins, London College of Fashion, The British Council, The Design Council, TOAST, Fashion Revolution, Leeds Beckett University, University of West England, University of Westminster, InvestIn (design education for 16-18 year olds), Hospital Rooms, to name a few.
