BESPOKE SUSTAINABLE WEDDING DRESS COMMISSIONS
The Phoebe English studio was founded in 2011 with bespoke made to measure commissions. It remains an integral activity of the PHOEBE ENGLISH studio today, where our unique and personalised design process thrives.
We offer unique and carefully crafted sustainable bridal wear, sustainable wedding dresses, bespoke suits and wedding outfits. We work closely with our clients and offer a full bespoke service, or alternatively our made to order and made to measure services. We aim to integrate each client’s personal character and nature into our one off made to measure wedding pieces, for both you and your wedding party. Each design is approached as an individual project, designed from scratch and centred around you and your specific requirements.
Using our specialisms in circular design and sustainable design as a basis, we then integrate our unique handmade textiles and zero waste pattern cutting techniques to create completely unique garments and designer bridal gowns.
By integrating zero waste pattern cutting into the use of our high quality and carefully sourced natural fibre fabric 'waste,' we are able to provide an entirely unique and made to measure outfit for your sustainable wedding. We are able to combine natural dyes into your pieces, in order to produce an entirely one off, bespoke, plant dyed, eco friendly wedding dress or outfit.
Our full bespoke service offers made to measure sustainable wedding dresses, suits and wedding outfits for you and your wedding party. On the lead up to your wedding day and during the wedding preparation weeks, wedding dress fittings can happen across several stages, allowing us to get the perfect result during the final fitting for your bespoke garment.
We welcome customers contacting us with bespoke project enquiries: whether for a wedding, civil partnership or other special occasion. The studio is delighted to collaborate one on one with clients to create their bespoke made to measure sustainable wedding dress or outfit.
We offer three different types of service to try and accommodate everyone’s budget:
MADE TO ORDER
Ordering items from our extensive archive in the size ranges we have available. This is great for those with a lower budget.
MADE TO MEASURE
Ordering items from our extensive archive but having them made in a fabric, colourway and a fit that is specific to you. This requires coming to the studio for a fitting.
BESPOKE
Commissioning a bespoke design by Phoebe to make something entirely unique to your event and you as a person. We usually work with three in person fittings on the closest months leading up to the event and aim for delivery no later than two weeks before the event date (we are unable to conduct alterations after those two weeks.)

Our most recent wedding commission was featured in VOGUE. Working closely to create the perfect, bespoke, sustainable wedding dress for Rose Easton’s creative vision, we worked closely to produce a made to measure, eco friendly wedding dress with natural fibres within our full bespoke service. Aiming to reflect her personality in the pieces and to enhance the candlelit in her wedding venue that we created for her big day, we designed and made both a wedding dress and a wedding party dress for her. Alongside these, we also created the bridesmaids and made of honour made to measure one off fitted suits.
For Jessica's intimate ceremony we took previous existing patterns from our extensive archive and worked closely with her to find suitable fabric to cut them in. We crafted her a sumptuous silk cape and sculptural veil in silk tulle.
The team and Phoebe were wonderful to work with from the moment I arrived at the studio, taking into account all of the comments I'd made during the initial consultation and clearly investing their complete attention and creative energies into designing something for me that would be exactly right. I felt absolutely confident throughout that the outcome would be beautiful and I absolutely adored the final piece - not only how it looked but more importantly how it felt to wear - simultaneously fun and elegant, and comfortable which was most important to me to feel on my wedding day. For Katrina's wedding outfit we crafted her an opaque under top and designed a bespoke made to measure veil to match. Working with the sculptural nature of the fabric and using the transparent layers upon layer to create a multi dimensional surface around the bride. Within each of these layers small quantities of white sequins were nestled which weighed down each section. When the bride moved or danced these delicate pieces of glitter would subtly move with the body. Giving it a dynamic quality to enhance its sculptural elements. We worked closely with her directions and visions to unify these two garments to create something entirely custom made together.
