BEYOND THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS EXHIBITION

We are delighted to be a part of the National Museums of Scotland’s exhibition: ‘Beyond the Little Black Dress.’

Our naturally dyed Inky Gather Dress from the collection, ‘Here: An Alternative Route,’ showcases our trials into attaining a black dye without a synthetic dye content using only natural botanical ingredients. The inky dye recipe, consisting of hand foraged oak galls, logwood extract and iron water, is used to over-dye digital print waste fabrics. Here, a silk, obtained from our partnership with Think Positive Prints. 

The exhibition includes Coco Chanel’s first Little Black Dress from 1926.

It is on view in Edinburgh until 29 Oct 2023.
